Dumbo's house
went K-lunch with Dumbo this morning... ultimate anyhow sing session. today my vocal was ultra not up to standard. so in the end rather listen to him sing. anyway it was his treat, so he should sing more.
then after that we had intended to go for a haircut together. but apparently everyone else was also in the mood for a new hairdo so all the salon that we went to were packed full of people. the first 2 we approached told us we would have to wait for 30 minutes. not very long, but also not very short. in the end Dumbo and me gave up the intention to cut our hair.
instead... i got dragged over to his place. haha it's the first time he brought me home with him so i was very nervous while walking over. then i kept wanting to back out from it but he held onto me making sure i don't try anything funny. even when i said i want to go to the playground play he also don't believe. i kept leaning backwards while he half-towed me for the rest of the way to his house. even while we were climbing the 2 levels up.
when i finally stepped into his house, it wasn't as bad as i had thought. the house was so big! the rooms too. but Dumbo's room looks very sparse compared to mine. it amazes me how we have so much possessions piling up at home. oh! and he had a blanket that looks like the new one mummy gave me. except that his is blue and mine is pink. =3
plus his mom had prepared dinner. then there was Dumbo's favorite ngoh hiang which he said was substandard today. i thought it was delicious, except that it would have been even better with more chestnuts, which he said was what it usually was like. i loved the skin of the ngoh hiang. fantastic. and the soup was sweet too.
dinner went with daddy, mummy and AhMing to the coffee shop next to S-11 under Hougang Plaza. we all had the western food there. black pepper hot plate simply rules especially when the wind was damn strong today. but we were not sitting under any shelter. damn lucky it did not rain. if not we'll be having drowned pepper instead of hot plate. the grilled fish mummy had tasted good too.
then i saw a shop selling hot red panties. with golden pictures of pigs. (for the year of the pig). goodness. i was darn fascinated by them. a pity i did not have my phone with me if not i would have taken photos of them. one whole rack full of red undies. haha.
to AhTingJie : you better show me what hot stuffs you brought back from S.H.E's concert and Fahrenheit autograph session. because if it was not because you cannot make it home for dinner, we would all have had chili crab for dinner. you dumb dumb.

jianwei bdae celebration
boring day at school. kept getting pinpointed by the maths tutor for talking in class. anyway i also don't really care. Huiqi finds him very cute though, because he kept saying "Ah..." in between his sentences. but he is a much better tutor than the one we had for last semester, so i shouldn't complain so much.
right after my Japanese lesson { アホ, a ho = stupid } i rushed back for the barbecue. tonight was supposed to be celebrating JianWei's birthday. i kept asking for details from Benjamin by sms but he totally ignore me. Mel had to call him to squeeze out the bits of information. so bad.
there were Akshay, De Yang, Ky Meng, Jiaying (girlfriend), Benjamin, Pascal, JianWei, MeiYun (girlfriend), Mel and me. Adrian joined us for a while here and there as he was still busy trying to settle the design for the sub-committee's tee-shirt.
Akshay is a damn good cook. (comparable to Dumbo) the chicken and stingray done by him all tasted fantastic. the satay they got was nice too. a pity some of the chicken wings got burnt because everyone else was busy eating and forgot to watch over them. Mel loved the wedges MeiYun prepared beforehand.
a pity it began to rain halfway through the BBQ. we had to shift into a small area outside the function hall and raise another fire with an aluminum tray and more charcoal plus fire starters. the wind was quite strong and we were all kind of cold in the weather. it was only with much effort before the fire started burning strong.
then Pascal taught us the German's way of drinking beer. they shake the can of beer, then poke a hole at the side. the mouth have to be positioned at the hole before opening the can tab. the pressure from the top then pushes the beer out from the poked hole and gushes into the mouth swiftly forcing the drinker to drink very fast at a go. both JianWei and Ky Meng tried it but Ky Meng drank faster and got a bit wobbly.
after that was the birthday cake cutting ceremony! JianWei chose the cake himself - fruit cake from Prima Deli. too bad there was minimal amount of cream on the cake, if not Ben would have wanted revenge for what JianWei did to him on his birthday last year. JianWei must have preempted it. Dumbo joined us just after the cake was cut.
we took pictures using Adrian's camera. my hand was too oily so i never take much photos with my handphone. luckily Dumbo was there, for us to have enough manpower to introduce the NIE pond to JianWei in another perspective --- by being in it. gosh! the guys were all complaining he was very heavy on the ritual there. and JianWei kept struggling making their job even more difficult.
after dumping him in, everyone scattered away. however he did not chase after us so we got worried and the braver ones went back to check on him. who knew, he was hiding in the bush waiting to ambush us. Ben got hugged by him (to make him wet too). i ran like my life depended on it until my slipper fly off. instead of retrieving it, i continued running barefoot until the coast is clear before i dared to go back and take.
i really admire the effort MeiYun has put into planning this birthday celebration for JianWei. preparing the food and everything. it makes me wonder how Dumbo's birthday celebration will turn out into this year...Labels: hall details, tomodachi

madness (canvassing) day
went for dinner with Ah Mel after which she tempted me into drinking our favorite avocado juice. but i ordered the wrong combination. ended up the aloe vera taste covered that of avocado and it was a bad experience. Mel's avocado with milk tasted more like carnation milk, however she said it tastes better as you drink.
AVOCADO WITH ALOE VERA JUICE SUCKS!
after Mel came back from her Japanese lesson, it was total madness as we try to find people to canvass the Chinese new year goodies that we have to sell and got not much detail about. it was like fighting a war. she brought me to Jason's room, who happened to be Li Cheng's roommate, to ask if he managed to reach his quota.
what happened afterwards was a whirl of events. i can't remember much details except that Mel was trying very hard to reach her quota by asking the guys there to buy. but i was a bit uncomfortable as we were in the guys dormitories, so when she went to block 60 TV lounge i scooted off to find Zi Jian.
then i started messaging my friends to see if they want any. then my handphone went totally flat. then i ran back to my room and use msn plus sms. finally thanks to Chup, who bought 4 items in total, i managed to clear most of my quota. Waiyee bought 1 cookie too. YongHin bought 2 items too. then Pam and Huiqi offered to help, but i have already reach quota. and my first customer Dumbo bought 1 barbecued pork insisting that he wants to eat and not because he wants to help me. so i have 8 enough to cover 1 for Mel, whom managed to sell 4 and absorb 2.
Supper: prosperity beef for me and Dumbo. filet for Mel.Labels: hall details, publicity, tomodachi

day off from school~!
the reason why i took the day off? that's because school sucks and I'm so damn tired. from all the late nights recently. worse of all tonight we have banner painting again!!!
basically i spent the whole day sleeping in. i woke up to listen to recorded lectures of crystals. then in between napping i did some of math tutorials.
today's banner painted was International Chess Champion and Cultural Night (5 Minutes to Fame). I.chess was the conventional cloth banner, whereas for cultural night Li Cheng introduced the idea of using a net as base while we add the words and decor onto it. then we can reuse the hammock instead of having to buy cloth for new banners every time.
i saw ninja van today! it's supposedly an illegal van selling almost any kind of food. it appeared right under my block when i was walking back to room to get my scissors for cultural night backdrop. so i bought fish balls and egg tart then dropped them off for Dumbo at the lounge. he was waiting there for me to scare him. [=_="]
according to legend (aka Li Cheng) the ninja van appears in army camps around the area. and they sell food to the poor NS-men who are absolutely deprived of proper food in camp. so they have come by our hall after their normal rounds. the auntie of the ninja van also mentioned that "(the van) will be at hall 3 after 11:00pm". meaning they are going around the halls in NTU too, to save the poor hall people who are also in despair because of canteen food.Labels: hall details, publicity

chem & computing / no dinner!
it has already become a habit to wake up at 0800 even when I've got a 0830 lesson. north spine or south spine. today was the first chemistry and computing tutorial that i went to for this semester.
chemistry was boring because we've learned everything before and had no difficulty doing the tutorial, but the tutor insisted that there may be people who have learned and forgotten. so she made it her ultimate goal to talk and explain as slow as possible. the lesson became a drag...
on the other hand, out of my expectation, computing was fun. as i never pay attention during lecture, there are some things that i still don't understand in C++. though i can quickly grasp it during tutorial by flipping the textbook myself from time to time when the tutor is explaining.
after which i had almost a full day up till 08:30pm. there was this huge Dumbo who waited for me to have dinner, but in the end he had western food while i had a waffle because i had overspent for the day already. $6 per day for all my meals is a resource that need to be used with much conservation efforts. however i should have known better because by 11pm, i was already damn hungry.Labels: hall details, school details

making cny decor / dinner date / supper
lesson ended early today. came back hall room and started making Chinese New Year decorations with red packets. i had forgotten how i used to make the red packet lanterns, so i asked Mel with some red packets on my hand. haha end up Mel also forgot. left with no choice i tried to Google it online. the search returned with a lot of online web selling handmade red packet decorations. i managed to come across one that have pictures of a lot of different kinds of such decorations, however it did not come with any instructions on how to go about making them. i had to resort to looking at the end product and try to figure it out myself. atlas, it turned out the lantern looked distorted and funny. Mel kept teasing me about it. though she made one too, that's a cube with triangular hole pattern. then to add to the collection we had fan, fish, eight (ancient coin look-alike stuff) and a handful of those single red packet with lots of parallel cuts then staple the diagonals together thing. ignoring the fact that we had 2 distorted lanterns, it was quite a successful try i would say.
earlier today Mel had ran into Sinhui, then they arranged to meet for dinner 05:30pm at Canteen B. however on our way out Sinhui messaged to say her lesson ended early and thus canceled our dinner date. so Mel and i continued to make our way to Adrian's room to pass him our small collection of Chinese New Year decorations. before moving off to school.
on our way we ran into Kenneth. we ended up chatting with him. turned out he was a nice guy (that Mel and i had not expected, but Dumbo said can tell from his look). pretty much enjoyed myself talking to him standing outside his room until it was time for us to go for dinner if not Mel would be late for lesson. end up Kenneth joined us for dinner at Canteen B. after which Mel went for her Japanese lesson and i went to order my Japanese notes.
around 10pm Dumbo came into my room to collect me. he had the key for JianWei's bicycle and we went City Harvest for supper, his dinner. i sat on the passenger seat while he cycled me there. though there was some difficulties going up slope. haha on our way back we walked up the slopes and he cycled with me as passenger for down slopes and level ground. initially i was a bit scared because the bicycle was a bit unstable, but after a while, when i got used to it, i enjoyed the ride very much. though i think at some times Dumbo purposely rode faster to make me hold onto him. haha.Labels: hall details, publicity, tomodachi

FOC garang guni / ndp 2007 audition
had to wake up when the rest of the world was still sleeping today in order to be on time for the FOC Garang Guni event at Clementi. though reluctant but i still pulled myself out from under the blankets...
Mel messaged me saying that she have reached the MRT when i was just about to leave my house!!! but then it was still 20 minutes before the time we had arranged to meet! end up i walked very fast to the 72 bus stop. luckily the bus came on time and i reached the MRT bus stop at 3 minutes to 07:30. by the time i step into the vicinity of the control station, i was just on time (according to the universal time). however Mel kept insisting that her time says 07:33 which means that i was late.
why is it that whenever i go out with my friends, our time doesn't seem to tally? every one of us will always have a watch or clock that tells the time a few minutes faster or slower. since this happens so often, the next time I'm late, i can adjust my time that tells me I'm not late.
anyway when we reached Clementi, there was like so few people that we can recognize. so few like only 2? and we was not even absolutely sure if there were really from hall. saw Darren then Jun Zhong. after which i decided to go get something for my empty stomach. after which subsequently we saw a few more familiar hall people going pass us with their food.
those in hall got to sit in Nick's lorry to Clementi. but some got the back of their shirt stained with rust or dust I'm not sure. anyway briefings took very long to start.
my group got Natasha (GL) , Alex, Chin Teck, Woon Tong, Wei Ming and me. the first 2 blocks we cleared Woon Tong has already got 2 sets of TV, a VCD player, hair dryer and an electric kettle. however the uncle didn't accept the 2 TVs which made us quite demoralized. lucky the uncle wanted the fan i got from a fierce young man.
even though they had warned of dogs beforehand, but when i knocked on my first door with dogs on the other side of the door, i jumped when the dog barked. so i thought : okay it's alright, cool it and try and ring the doorbell next door. and then another dog started barking too. the 2 dogs rally bark for some time. a wonder no one came to open the door though.
then there was a very scary old woman at the corner of the top floors in one one of the blocks. her door was opened, but the house looked very empty. it lacked the basic furnitures that other houses have. here is how it happened : Chin Teck : 有没有久报子 an auntie head pop out to look, disappear then s-i-l-e-n-c-e... and then all of a sudden me, Chin Teck and Woon Tong we heard auntie shout very loud... Auntie : 没有啦! so the 3 of us jumped then hurried away...
another house was scarier. this time only me and Chin Teck. we were walking past a unit when i noticed they had 3 animal skull left out to dry in the sun. we don't know what animal it was but it definitely died horribly. there was flies and the person had used nylon string going through the eye hole of the skulls to tie them together. then each skull had this horn thing that makes them look very intimidating. the worst thing was they were emitting a stench.
after that had to leave early for NDP audition at Tampines, so i did not stay behind to wait for the lorry to come and clear our loot before the group have their lunch.
by the time i reached Tampines the opposite end of Singapore, there was not enough time for me to have a proper lunch. so all i could grab and force myself to eat was a bread. then AhTingJie grab the new cherry freeze from Mac before we go and wait for the bus to come.
when we reached there, we were told we would only be put on the reserve list even if we pass the audition. damn if i had known... i came all the way from the other end of Singapore. i think they never pass the message properly. then AhTingJie was so angry. she go anyhow show other people black face make me so embarrassed. we filled up the forms anyway, took our body measurement and stuffs before proceeding to audition room. inside, they showed us 4 counts of 8 and see if we are able to perform them. i sort of screw mine up but i still think i did okay.
damn tired on the journey home. however dinner we had at Hougang Mall's Soup Restaurant (三盅两件)which have really nice food. i loved the fried vermicelli. then the tofu was also very nice. the sweet potato leaves (番薯叶) especially. the olive rice also not bad, a pity today cook until a bit too dry. mummy say the last time they eat it wasn't that dry. then the chicken also good, but AhTingJie say got another one eat with lettuce one even better. it's their specialty dish. too bad no chance try. maybe another time!
then just when i was about to leave to meet ZiJian, mummy say want to meet him. so i asked him come up although he was already waiting for me at the MRT. that was a great obstacle. really feel better now that i no need to lie anymore.Labels: hall details, home, nice food, tomodachi

Tigger plushie / nasi lemak
i had thought AhTingJie was not going to talk to me for a long time after she ignore me since the night before. just now she came back while i was lying on the bed watching TV in our room back facing her. then she kicked my foot. so i asked : "what?" but she never reply then continue kick harder, until i turn around....
she was smiling at me holding up a Tigger plushie speaker.
that moment i was so happy she not angry with me i always jump up and hit the ceiling. haha then she asked me to try on my laptop. so i brought it over to the abandoned laptop in AhMing's room, boot up and try. although the maximum volume is not very loud it is still very good. then she said she give it to me.
does that mean I'm forgiven?
AhMing bought supper from Tong Pang, which according to him is somewhere between Woodlands and Yishun. nasi lemak with chicken wing, long bean, sunny side up and ikan bilis. yummy! it's comparable to the Punggol 21 Nasi Lemak, just that the rice not as fragrant and the sunny side up egg yolk not runny enough. the ikan bilis was fantastic. mummy loved it too. the best part is it is not so expensive like Punggol 21's. the price is like outside normal nasi lemak $2.00 plus per packet with 3 kinds of vegetables each.Labels: home, nice food

first japanese lesson
i slept with my physics textbook and notes last night on the bed. god I'm still so tired. and i was late for the first (physics) tutorial.
at night i went for my first Japanese lesson just now. immediately got pin-pointed out by the teacher because i wasn't there for the first Tuesday lesson (because i signed up for supper hop first) and i stupidly tell the teacher i had studied Japanese before. so Chang-san asked me to introduce myself to the class in Nihon-go. so i did it just like how JianWei and Zi Jian had said before.
Hajimemashite, watashi no namae wa Wang Wang desu. Dozo yoroshiku.
that was a slap on my own face. the teacher wanted to chase me out of the classroom to take the placement test to see if i qualify for the next level of Japanese. so he shoved me to the tutorial room next door where the overall in charge of Japanese (Ms Lee) was seated.
she spoke to me in a few sentences of Nihon-go which i didn't understand. then she wanted to chase me out of my class and requested that i leave the class then take the placement test next semester. she said other students will complain if i outshine them because i studied before. but she looked too kind for me to hold any grudge against her.
so i asked what will be tested in the placement test. all hiragana, katakana and kanji will be tested. then i voiced out that i never learn the other 2 before and that because of that i feel very "not here, not there".
so the conclusion was i can continue taking level 1 Japanese, but i cannot try to outshine the class or attract too much attention with what i know. if not other students will complain about me and give Ms Lee a headache again.
when i returned to the classroom, i felt unease. i had to make sure i dun try to outdo the class even though i didn't learn before what Chang-san was teaching.
lesson ended after 2030 and i rushed back to hall immediately to pack up and go home. daddy had instructed not to be too late. very hungry and i had not have dinner. end up packed dinner from coffee shop near home then went home to eat which was like already 11+pm.
and despite all when i reach home the first thing my mum said to me was : "why are you back so late?" and gave me that kind of reproachful look. the feeling just sucks... i never answer and remained quiet for the rest of the night.Labels: home, school details

Cafe Alfresco
Thursday school ended somewhat earlier than other days. i was so glad that i finally have a chance to go back hall for a quality nap. the moment i reached hall i went for a very successful and quick "big business" before i went to sleep. it was a nice sleep for a while especially when it started raining but then my mosquito bites started acting up. at first i used my legs to rub each other and refused to wake up. but the itch got worse i couldn't stand it any longer. i went to the toilet and used hot water to scald them, one by one.
then i realized it was time to meet Mel, Benjamin and JianWei for dinner. they had decided to try the Cafe Alfresco at the International House in NTU since we haven't been there before. it was drizzling but i made my way there as fast as i could bringing Mel's Japanese textbook and notes.
the food was a disappointment. lucky i hadn't intended to eat there. after the meal Mel rushed to her Japanese lesson while the remaining 3 of us made our way to Canteen A and met up with Zi Jian for another round of dinner.
on our way out from the cafe, we saw the function room next door was having a buffet. with so many students that look like they were from so many countries. how i wish i could have the food too...Labels: hall details, tomodachi

cheerleading banner painting
publicity meeting again. we have to canvass Chinese New Year goodies. every sub-committee member has to sell at least 7 to reach our quota and qualify as a sub-committee member and earn point. DUH! and the worse thing is we have to compete with fellow sub-committee members from other committee. too tired to bother about that first.
then i wasn't really all out for banner painting. i was having a nasty temper. Mel commented about the nastiness. it was because I'm damn tired today due lack of sleep for the past few days. not very nice but i was already trying to curb it. sorry Mel if I'd accidentally throw one at you.
and the worst thing on top of a bad temper was for some reasons the mosquitoes where we were painting the banner were attracted to me. they felt like we had some sort of affinity with each other, the mosquito and me. and they kept sucking my blood. for the time i spent there, i had more mosquito bites than i could count. bloody hell.
in the end we left early giving the excuse that Mel had a quiz tomorrow. i left giving no excuse.
JianWei was very sweet. he cycled all the way to City Harvest coffee shop to get supper for us just because i said i was hungry. then also because he forgot to call back before he come back from Jurong Point asking us if we want anything.
beef hor fun again! not as nice as the Geylang one but still much above average. went to sleep after finishing the food.
THANKS JianWei and Ah Mel for calling JianWei to buy the supper.Labels: hall details, publicity, tomodachi

supper hop
hall 12 organized a supper hop intending to allow those who stay in hall to know more people staying in the same hall. so there was hired buses chauffeuring us around Singapore tonight. i had only 1 mouth of each to keep my stomach free to try every kind of food. only the recommendable ones will be highlighted here...
our group got Mel and me, JianWei, Benjamin, Zijian, De Yang, Ky Meng, Ivan, Collin, Akshay, a new friend Zhang Miao from China and Pascal and his friends. we were like the only group to always stand while we eat. a pity Akshay left early with Pascal and his fellow friends.
first stop was Jalan Besar hawker center. god it was just next to Desker Road (the local gay version of Geylang). we had:
- turtle soup (山瑞汤) --- * F A N T A S T I C *
- bak kut teh (肉骨茶)
- lamb soup (羊肉汤) --- don't like
- fish ball noodle --- awful, but the fishcake was nice!
- BBQ chicken wing --- 2 thumbs up!
- lime juice
2nd destination was Old Airport Road hawker center. THERE WAS A PLAYGROUND NEXT TO IT WITH SAND AND SWING!!! one of a rare thing in Singapore these days. most have been converted to those rubber floor thing that emits an unpleasant smell under the hot sun. we had a hell lot of food here:
- char kuay teow from 2 different stalls --- not that fantastic
- fried omelet --- love it! but Serangoon there one nicer.
- lamb soup --- again! totally gross!
- chee cheong fun --- damn smooth with prawn and chicken inside.
- barbecued sting ray --- spicy!
- spicy octopus hot plate --- very fresh and Q with a unique sauce (that i don't know how to appreciate)
- wanton noodle --- nice also but got another place one even more fantastic.
- banana and jack fruit fritters --- average
the third and final stop was Geylang Lor 9. unlike the previous stops, everything was mouth-watering here. the must have food:
- fried dough (油条)
- bean curd (豆花)
- Taiwan vermicelli aka mee sua (台湾面线)
- beef hor fun (牛肉河粉)
the difference between odd and even streets here is glaring. there was a small tour around the even streets from the guys after our food. what i saw that night shan't be published for the girls need respect too. however there was this DAMN ASSHOLE Indian man (not that I'm racist or got anything against them) was walking past our group when i saw he purposely want to bang into Ah Mel. BASTARD. lucky Mel moved away in time to avoid contact with him. MOTHERFUCKER. we had a glimpse of the darker streets before returning to the big group.
well the day ended with us reaching hall around 2+ am today dead beat and smelly from all the smoke. but it was well worth it!Labels: hall details, mini excursions

hall foc 1st meeting
went for the very first FOC programmers meeting at block 60 benches. it was a very fast thing. Kenneth gave out the pamphlets with the details for the Garang Guni event this coming Sunday. around 100 of us have to collect old newspapers and clothes at Clementi HDB covering 80+ blocks. the thing starts at 9am so we have to meet at Clementi MRT at 8am.
Mel and me stay half across Singapore. reaching there on time won't be easy. we would have to freaking wake up at 6am.
Though i was just told that i have NDP audition at Tampines from 10am so i won't be able to meet them at 8am. Kenneth got problem letting me meet them later but in the end he still let me go for audition first.
i wonder how Mel will be making her way there...
then there was McDonald's supper. Mel and i both tried the prosperity burger. the black pepper was so super hot that it left us with lips numb from the spice. i like the hotness, but Mel don't like. then i ate up most of Zi Jian's fries. I'm a glutton.Labels: hall details

MSE Meet the mentor session
we have a freshmen talk today at the auditorium!!!! i was damn excited! whenever there's such an event, there will always be refreshments and goodie bags. especially the refreshments, they always make me smile ever so widely! however the bad part about this was we had to find our mentor and speak to them. Gosh~!
the 5 of us walked in unsuspecting of any unusual circumstances when suddenly Prof Boey ( Head of MSE ) walked up to us and tried to chat with us. what a sweet guy. too bad we weren't exactly at ease talking with him. so we sweetly smiled and walked away to a tea table at the furthest corner of the hall which is also nearest to the buffet table.
i noticed an Indian prof standing alone at one of the tea table. so i thought under normal circumstances this indicates that he isn't really very amiable and i prayed hard my mentor Mr Raju, whom I've yet to meet before, will not be him. however it turned out to be him! oh my god.
so i approached him when his identity was revealed and introduced myself. there were already 2 other guys that were also under Mr Raju standing with him already. turned out he wasn't such a bad guy after all. haha and he is definitely not long-winded. because he made sure he finish his piece asap before asking for questions which the china scholar did. so he answered and before the 2nd question was asked, he indicated for us to attend to the food first before we continue to talk.
though i took the chance to escape back to the rest of the gang, who having met up with their mentors earlier were already holding onto their disposable plates with yummy food. gosh! i absolutely loved the cheese cake they served. it was fantastic!
and i also found out today that prof Lee Pooi See was a nice lady too. (=
another thing. i won the lucky draw. got $20 Popular/CD-Rama voucher. sort of made me feel better about the extra $12 i had to pay for Supper Hop.

un-LUCKY day / hall olympiad
today has got to be one of the extracts from Lemony Snicket's : A Series of Unfortunate Events. goodness i hope he's not the one writing my fate for me man. if not I'd rather exchange my life for a pig's to alter my fate.
here's how my story for today went :
me and the usual gang was sitting in maths lecture excitedly waiting for the Add/Drop period. finally it was 0930hr and i exclaimed loudly "faster faster 0930 already 0930 already oh my god!!!" i was already at the page just a click away. Pam's account on IE and mine on Mozilla. just when one of Pam's subject had successfully change index, the NTU server decided it can't handle the overload of students logging in. NTU server sucks!
the atrocious system lagged for 15 long miserable minutes before it decided to announce that i can't log in anymore. so WaiYee and me, the ones with the laptops, kept refreshing the page adamantly trying to change our index. until all of a sudden, a blue screen pop out on my computer. DAMN! hard disk error again. ( throughout this period i kept cursing and swearing because of all the pictures gone... )
then when i came back hall feeling lousy enough, i realized i left $12 outside along with my laundries that i was leaving out for the sun. by the time i remembered about the money and rushed back to my room, they have already vanished into thin air. )= the money was from ZJ Colin Ivan and De Yang for the Supper Hop. end up have to fork up the missing $12 for them.
booooo hooooo hoooooo~
but then at night got Sepak Tekraw Semi-Finals. Hall 12 vs Hall 4. hell lot of people went down to support our hall at SRC. although in the end we lost, but it was a match worth watching. especially when everyone is cheering for the same team at the most exciting part, it really brings out the spirit. mostly was the main committee cheering then got people join in. Natalie (Hall 12 JCRC President) was the one shouting the loudest till she's hoarse. i can't deny it is very different to when i was in Xinmin last time. the volleyball match was really once in a lifetime thing.
immediately after the match Mel and me rush back to hall for publicity meeting. stupid Adrian walked super fast. in the end Mel and me have to half run half walk to be at his pace. no wonder he's so skinny... haha then we went back room changed into white polo tee to take Sub-committee photo. after which we changed back again to paint a "Thank You" banner for the hall players. the idea was free and easy. so we all took a few alphabets each and decorate them as we like. hope i fair not bad.
so in the end the day still ended not that bad for me after all. ^ ___________________ ^ "Labels: hall details, publicity, school details

The Swedish Ship Götheborg
went to Vivocity with Shu Xuan today. the main purpose was to go on board the Swedish Ship that had docked at Singapore. at first the 2 of us alighted at Harbourfront MRT and travelled upwards from the basement. [it took some time for me to leave Candy Empire] then when we reached level 1, we suddenly realized that both of us didn't know where the ship was. so i took out my phone and dialed Mel's number for SOS. so the direction i got was come up from escalator don't turn left or right will see a very expensive watch shop. then follow that direction walk straight all the way and i will see the ship. so i turned around on the spot and TADAH~ right in front of us was the exhibition on the Götheborg, and i swear i never even notice anything special before i called Mel - now known as the lifesaver.
we took a lot of pictures, and Shu Xuan even brought along her digicam. the exhibition wasn't exactly very large scale, but still there was a lot of boards put up in a semi-small area with photos of ancient ah peks that were supposed to contribute one way or another to the ship's history. and there was a glass shelf display of broken china salvaged from the wreck when the real Götheborg sank. goodness they have bowls that is exactly the same as the ones Shu Xuan and i use at home.
Ooooooh! and there was this girl sitting near the exhibition for a live sail repair demonstration. didn't really know what she was doing. she was using this wooden tool to make folds on the canvass sail. then she keep repeating it over the entire piece of canvass. after she finished, she took out a small knife. 她并不是想不开!!! she only wanted to use it to scrape out some white white stuff on the working board.
after we got bored of the exhibition we went on to see the REAL thing outside. we ran into Liyan and her boyfriend there. haha then Shu Xuan and me wanted to take a picture with the canon together, so i got her to help us. and she kindly did it for us!!! the sun was ultra big today. so i just blindly take some photos of the ship first before coming back to sieve out the 像样 ones.
other interesting things that took place on the same day :
we saw a very nice flower tree near the entrance to Sentosa. the flowers look very plastic when close up. but the tree looks nicer in the photo then in real life.
then on our way back from the ship we saw a sleeping waiter resting outside the restaurant. i know not very nice of me to take his picture like this but it amuses me a lot the way he sleeps with a towel over his face.
and before Vivocity, we were at Bugis for lunch and Shu Xuan need to settle something about her spectacles. we ran into this Taiwan man asking for directions to Lao Par Sar for Hainanese chicken rice. FROM BUGIS ><" so Shu Xuan told him he can get it everywhere in Singapore. then we brought him together to the hawker center we were headed for. until he told us he only got S$0.60, the rest all US dollars. then we point him towards the nearby OG complex tell him to change currency there before he can U-turn back to the hawker center and eat chicken rice.Labels: mini excursions, tomodachi

subject registration
had to help Benjamin with his subject registration because he had driving test. but then the moment i woke up it was already nearly 1.00pm. his registration time was 1.30pm. in the end wait until the time then chop chop get things done before i went for lunch.
canteen 14 had a make-over. the place now looks much better. the food looks more appetizing and they even offer desserts (`YUMMY~!) now. the Japanese food stall also changed owner. I had a teriyaki chicken don. compared to the one they used to serve, i can say the don is more tasty now.
after lunch come back hall also about time for me to register for my own subjects. initially i had some problems logging out from Benjamin's account in my Mozilla. so Mel suggested i use internet explorer which won't give such nonsense. but then i was just too stubborn so i kept trying and trying before i succeeded in signing into my own STARS planner.
met up with the MSE gang on msn to discuss what electives to take. in the end we all registered for the same lab session, plus Japanese, psychology, crystals and management with humor lessons.Labels: hall details, school details

PUBLICITY MEETING
came back hall for the publicity meeting today. supposed to meet up with mel and zj to take cab back to hall, but then mel overslept... so end up onli me and zj. we took the mercedes taxi okay, don't play play ah. taxi uncle actually drove up to 100km/h on PIE. (not pie as in cake but the expressway. duh~) goodness i was on my toes for a while, the lowest speed on the PIE was also like 80km/h. phew thank god i am still alive.
then at the first publicity meeting of the year 2007, only 5 people turned up. guess there was some confusion along the way. so it was the head, vice-head, Mel, Mingming and me. haha~ anyway this semester Adrian decided to delegate the workload more. so me and Mel become in charge of the photo thing in hall.
plus a lot of events coming up. so we have to paint a lot more banners than last semester. along with the standard stuffs like posters, brochures, decorations.
the most yucky thing : sub comm members now are officially obliged to canvass for hall events. bleurgh~! not exactly that fantastic to learn this piece of news, but still have to accept it. plus i just learn that FOC (not free-of-charge u kiasu peeps. it's Freshmen Orientation Camp) also need to canvass to raise funds. and i try to be funny go and join school and hall FOC. from what Adrian said February will me my favorite month of the year busy with all the canvassing.
shall see how it goes...Labels: hall details, publicity
